Welcome to Canada

Many thousands of visitors are drawn to Canada each year to visit its vibrant cities, to sample the incredible scenery and to meet the local people who have a close affinity with the UK.

The spectacular Rocky Mountains form a spine along the border of British Columbia and Alberta creating some of the world's most magnificent scenery. The alpine resort towns of Banff and Jasper are linked by one the world's most spectacular highways - The Icefields Parkway. You should not miss this one day trip, stopping en route at the massive Columbia Glacier.

A comfortable three days drive through the rolling hills of BC or the more southerly "Wine Route" is the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver. With excellent shopping, wonderful nightlife, museums and entertainment, a stay here is a must. As the gateway to Vancouver islands, Vancouver is also the start point for Alaskan Cruises.

A few hundred miles north, and an immediate neighbour of Alaska, is the Yukon Territory. If you are looking for unsurpassed natural wilderness beauty - this is the place. Accessible through the northern end of Alaska's Inside Passage, The Yukon links well with Alaska as a self-drive tour destination.

Across the vast Prairies lie Canada's Eastern provinces and the four major cities of Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec. Toronto is a modern bustling regional city with excellent entertainment and shopping facilities. The City of Ottawa is Canada's capital with beautiful parks a an the longest skating rink in the world). Montreal is the second largest French speaking city and sits on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. Quebec is Canada's oldest city with such splendid architecture that it is a Untied Nations World Heritage site.

Further to the east are the Maritime Provinces. Consisting of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, the region has strong historical and cultural links with the its Celtic past. Many small villages dot the coastline populated with friendly people, who take pride in their pretty whitewashed houses and coloured wooden houses.
